Vandaag gevonden op een rommelmarkt in het Bouwcentrum te Antwerpen : Een stapel 78-toerenplaten gekocht tegen 10 euro.
Een viel mij echter op door zijn mooie titel : La Golondrina (De zwaluw), gespeeld door een Weens Orkest en uitgegeven in Oostenrijk. Er staat wel bij vermeld dat het een "Mexikanische Serenade" is geschreven door Betz. De plaat is in behoorlijke staat en aan de rest van de stapel te beoordelen dateren ze van net na de oorlog tot het begin van de jaren 50.
Bij het beluisteren van een van de vele versies van "La Golondrina" in You tube, , herkende ik onmiddellijk dit lied,. maar ik kon het toch niet thuisbrengen. Bijna iedereen kent dit.
Ene "Narciso Serradel Sevilla" (Mexico 1883) zou het geschreven hebben, samen met Georg Betz. De eerste die het opnam was Arturo Admani, een tenor waarover weinig geweten is. In 1898 nam hij "La Golondrina op, op een Edison cylinder.
In het begin van de jaren 60 schreef het echtpaar Boudleaux Bryant, die heel wat voor de Everly Brothers componeerden er een Engelse tekst op en noemde deze song She Wears My Ring.
Ik dacht er zelf ernstig werk van te maken maar vond op het web dat iemand mij voor was geweest. Bij het nakijken van de gegevens kwam ik echter tot de vaststelling dat er bepaalde versies ontbreken. Ik denk niet dat er iemand ooit zal in slagen al de versies te inventariseren, want het lied is zo populair over de hele wereld dat er duizenden opnames van bestaan. Een lijstje ?
Maar luister eerst naar de melodie zelf : dit is de versie van James Last uit 1967

Also, there are some versions titled "Adios Amor" /by Lorenzo De Monteclaro, Julia Palma, etc/. In English, known as "She Wears My Ring" /Elvis, Roy Orbison,etc/,also other titles. One version of Pat Boone "We Love But Once" is so beautiful. Also touching version of Karel Gott /in Czech language/"Prazdny Dum"/>"Empty House"/.In French /mainly in Canada/-"Cet Anneau D'Or",etc. In Portuguese - "A Andorinha", etc. In Dutch -more different titles, in German too.
